We offer live flamenco every Friday night, starting at 8.45pm.

Flamenco is an ancient Spanish art, which developed in southern Spain hundreds of years ago. It combines Gypsy influences with the music of Andalusia, and was originally done in small 'cafes cantantes' throughout southern Spain. Elche Restaurante de Tapas is proud to be continuing this long tradition.

About Flamenco
Flamenco consists of the song (cante), the dance (baile) and the guitar-playing (guitarra). The first written record of flamenco is in 1774, but it certainly existed before this time.

It remained a speciality of the neighbourhood cafe until the 1950s, when it was recognised as a serious art form and began to be performed in major theaters and concert houses. Mass media has now made flamenco familiar throughout the world, but to experience it in its true form, you must be in an intimate setting with friends, with good food, and with wine. We at Elche Restaurante de Tapas are pleased to be able to offer you this experience — a true taste of authentic Spain.
